Once I'd decided I wanted to pursue a career in Speech and Language Therapy, I thought it would be useful to search for information that might help me in my journey. So I flicked through the NHS career information (http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/details/Default.aspx?Id=288) in my university careers centre, rung the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (http://www.rcslt.org/) for any advice they might have, and of course, typed , 'What do I need to do to become a Speech and Language Therapist?' into my laptop. Despite my enthusiasm, however, I could only find answers to a tiny amount of the questions I had, and found myself going almost all the way back to the starting line.
Having made a number of discoveries in the last couple of months, I thought I'd start this blog to help people who might be struggling in the same way I was. I will share my sweets with you and one day, there will be a generation of beautifully informed budding SALTs (Speech and Language Therapists), armed with all the information they need to sit confidently, drooling as they eagerly await the start of their university course.
With a bit of luck, reading this blog will save you months of research time and will see you sailing ahead of the poor people who don't know about it...
